Hand-offs to Polymagnet

Every click from the ten magnetics sites to polymagnet.com is counted here, by site and by page. A hand-off is a visitor leaving one of our pages for Polymagnet's store. Leads are what Polymagnet's own records show after that, so the two get matched each month.

Bars are hand-offs per day (left scale). The line is human page views across the ten sites (right scale).

Page views here are the strict count: known bots removed, then visits from browser versions too old to be a real person in 2026 (a common scraper disguise). The looser bot-filtered-only count is shown for reference.

What we need from Polymagnet to close the loop

Our side stops at the click. Whether that visitor became a lead is in Polymagnet's Shopify account, which we don't have access to. Two things from Tim or Mary would let us count leads, not just clicks:

  1. Shopify's referral report for utm_campaign=wt-sphere. In Shopify admin, Analytics → Reports → "Sessions by referrer" (or "Sessions by UTM campaign"), filtered to the campaign wt-sphere, broken out by utm_source (our site) and utm_content (the block and page). Monthly is enough. If orders or form submissions can be added to that view, even better.
  2. Polymagnet's lead count per month, back to launch if possible, with the source field if the form or CRM records one. Year one was about 350. With the monthly totals we can put our hand-offs next to their leads and see what share came through the network.

Optional but useful: if Polymagnet's contact or quote form can carry the UTM values into the lead record (Shopify forms and most CRMs can store "landing page" or UTM fields), each lead can be matched to the exact page that sent it.

Every outbound polymagnet.com link on our sites now carries utm_source (our site), utm_medium=referral, utm_campaign=wt-sphere and utm_content (block and page), so this traffic already shows up in their reports under that campaign from 4 October 2026 on.

12-month lead target Placeholder

Tim sets the real number. Until then the weekly line on the scorecard uses the assumption shown, and changes as soon as Shopify data gives us a real click-to-lead rate.

How it is counted

Source: the nginx access logs of the ten sites, re-read every hour. A hand-off is logged when a visitor clicks a polymagnet.com link: the page sends a small request to its own /go/polymagnet/ address before the browser leaves, and that request is what we count. The link itself still points straight at polymagnet.com. Repeat clicks by the same visitor on the same link in one day count once. Bot filter: the network traffic analyzer's bot list plus AWStats' robot list ( patterns). Logs keep 14 days; older days are kept in the history file. Visitors without JavaScript aren't counted as hand-offs, so the numbers run slightly low.
