The problem
Connected cameras, sensors and detectors get installed, moved and swapped far more often than the brackets that hold them were designed for. Screw mounts make every change a tool job. Conventional magnets slide, rotate out of aim, and can disturb the sensor's own electronics.
How coded magnets help
Correlated Magnetics Research's home page names this use directly, saying Polymagnets make mounting web cams, sensors and detectors on walls or ceilings a snap, with the ability to move, update or align them. Align pairs put a device back at the same position and angle after it has been removed. High shear attach magnets resist sliding on vertical surfaces. Short field reach reduces interference with nearby electronics, which CMR addresses in its consumer electronics material.
