The problem
Tool accessories and storage systems need to attach fast, carry real weight on vertical surfaces, and come off when needed. Conventional magnets slide down walls under load and do not locate accessories precisely.
How coded magnets help
Correlated Magnetics Research's applications page says Polymagnets can enable quick-swap attachments and fasteners on power tools, and can attach tools and fasteners to work belts, toolboxes and workbenches. It also names organization systems for tools and toys in garages, pantries, children's rooms and offices, relying on shear force to hold heavy items on walls.
